• Members of the AEE Tajikistan Chapter (Association of U.S. Energy Engineers in Tajikistan) have recently completed two projects to support their local communities. The first, funded by UNDP, promoted small-scale environmentally friendly energy technologies for the rural population of Tajikistan, which is facing energy poverty. Together with private sector-led enterprises, members of the Association of Energy Engineers conducted comprehensive energy assessments for ten remote villages and established energy committees headed by women. After initial training, they have installed, launched and will maintain 19 photovoltaic systems, 26 solar collectors, 30 solar kitchens and 160 small portable solar systems in ten settlements.

At the second event, AEE Members (members of the Association of Energy Engineers) installed ten solar systems for healthcare and educational institutions in both on-grid and off-grid areas.

Members of the Association also conducted several events to enhance the capacity of Tajik youth and journalists on air and water pollution issues. One of the information events was the 30-minute program “Today’s Topic”, broadcast on the second largest national television channel, Safina. Members of the Association spoke about the advantages of renewable energy technologies available in Tajikistan and how to promote them.
